Green Eyed Manga

Painted in acrylic on canvas, this energetic composition places a female figure at the centre of a vivid teal-green background, her wild black hair swept dynamically across the canvas as though caught in a violent wind. The figure leans forward with intensity, her piercing green eyes locking with the viewer in a moment of confrontation. A single flash of red at the lips provides sharp contrast against the otherwise cool palette of black, white and green. The work captures raw motion and inner power — a figure in the midst of transformation, or perhaps the moment just before action.

Red Eyed Manga

Painted in acrylic on canvas, this work depicts a striking female figure rendered in a bold anime-influenced style against a stark black background. The composition is dominated by a monochromatic palette of black and white, punctuated by vivid accents of red — most powerfully in the figure's intense, crimson eyes and deep red lips. A delicate star-shaped earring with a red jewel adds a further point of colour, drawing the eye downward. The figure's expression is cold, composed and unflinching — a warrior at rest but never at ease. The work explores themes of strength, femininity and danger, and the tension between beauty and threat.

Purple Manga

Painted in acrylic on canvas, this work takes a more restrained approach — a close portrait rendered almost entirely in black ink-like linework on a white ground, the deliberate simplicity giving it the quality of a woodblock print. The figure wears an elaborate braided crown and a formal collar and tie, yet her expression is distant and guarded. A single dramatic streak of deep purple hair cuts through the composition, the only colour in the piece, drawing the eye and hinting at something hidden beneath the composed exterior. The work explores identity, stillness and the quiet tension of a face that reveals nothing.

Samurai in a Red Sun

Painted in acrylic on canvas, this large-scale work depicts two samurai warriors rendered as bold black silhouettes, facing one another with swords drawn against a stark white ground. Between them, a raw expanse of red — painted with deliberate, gestural brushstrokes — dominates the canvas, simultaneously suggesting a rising sun, a blood moon, and the violence of the moment held suspended between the two figures. The composition draws on the Japanese tradition of ma — negative space as meaning — where what lies between two things carries as much weight as the things themselves. Two forces. One moment. The outcome unwritten.

Computer Love

Painted in acrylic on canvas, this bold and colourful work depicts two figures facing one another in close profile — their forms abstracted into sweeping curves and interlocking fields of primary colour in the manner of a Fernand Léger or a late Picasso. The composition is joyful and dynamic, the figures bound together by flowing lines of blue, red, orange and yellow against a soft sky-blue ground. The title references the 1981 Kraftwerk track Computer Love — a song about longing, connection and the search for intimacy in a world increasingly mediated by technology. The work asks whether the colours we project onto others are who they truly are, or simply who we need them to be.
